After Divided Sky, Trey spoke about how “exceptional” the room was, and how “inspiring” it was to play in.  He explained that the band had engaged in “philosophical discussions” about standing versus sitting at shows.  He said that some people may prefer to sit rather than stand and dance, and that the band hoped that everyone would be considerate of each other. (He also noted that he prefers to dance while listening to live music, while Page prefers to sit.) Trey added that he did not want anyone to feel uncomfortable about dancing in the aisles. Sweet Adeline was performed without microphones.

adamopp Was living in Portland and someone put me in touch with Paluska because they needed someone to put up flyers for this gig around Portland. It was only announced about 10 days in advance, hence was not in the Phish newsletter. Of course, I happily helped flyer Portland in exchange for a couple guest-list spots. Sure enough, by showtime it appeared they were able to fill the 150 seat theater to capacity. Very intimate, low key. Fishman hanging out in the lobby chatting with friends. The sole taper at this show, Zeke Vaughn, later crashed at our apartment before heading to the Colby College gig the following night. Thankfully, he recently got his masters digitized and out in circulation so all can now enjoy this fine show.

thelot Beautiful audience recording available for this show! The only thing that could make it better would be it was recorded to Dat. The acoustics of the venue and well behaved audience make this a home run recording! Big thanks to Zeke Vaughn for pulling this one down and sharing it with the community!

The first set starts off with Page doing the dirty work of informing the audience that no smoking, food or drink is permitted in the theater. He also sends a shout out to John Paluska’s parents who were in attendance that night. The set opens with a well played Sky. Afterwards, Trey chats about discussions the band has been having about sitting vs. standing/dancing at shows. A solid Foam follows. Decent Reba. Llama rages per usual. Magilla makes an appearance after sitting on the bench for almost a month. A little rust at the start. They close out set 1 again with no amplification for Sweet Adeline.

Set 2 starts off with Fish asking for Peter Paluska to come to the stage to claim his lost wallet. They hand him the mic and he requests that Phish play Moby Dick backwards. Curtain>Fluffhead pair nicely together. Atypical Arrival section. Enjoyable versions of Stash and Melt. Chalk Dust wraps up the evening on a high note.
