It's been a little while, but we have the new Axilla to open first set. Still not quite comfortable with the ending on this one yet. Right into a solid Poor Heart, a rocking Maze, and a sweet finger picking Glide. Sparkle has a weak intro from Trey, but recovers nicely into maybe one of the first great Sparkle's from Fishman. Foam was pretty good, except some spots during the transition to Trey's solo part in the middle. Right into a good FEFY. This one is really developing well. And if that's not enough Rift material, have yourself some more with a reasonably tight ATR. Melt was pretty good except for, I'm assuming, a tape flip cut during the jam. Bouncing was pretty standard. YEM again? Well last night's had some bad spots, so practice makes perfect right? Mike teasing the HYHU was great. Trey messed up the God lyric. Good vocal jam based off of the "don't tell me" phrase. Great set overall.
Ripping Chalk Dust to start second set. Reba had lots of problems tonight. Rough opening section, rough middle, but a great ending jam. The Bag it, Tag it, lines included yelling OW! from the crowd and the band. Funny ending too. Llama was just ok tonight, strange as that may sound. Hey, Horn is back for even more Rift material. Not bad. Fish then goes into his part for My Sweet One only to be put off by Trey for another Vibration of Life segment after a Happy Birthday to Julie shout out. "Don't try this at home." Page says. After the usual noise he asks, "Do you feel it people?" They also play an evil Vibration of Death. Fish resumes his drum part with a vengeance for one of the fastest My Sweet One's I've heard. A little payback? More of the Rift material with a better, tighter It's Ice. Sounds like Fish was going into Hood only to have it waived off for a Fee. The first verse gets cut off, most likely another tape flip. Not too bad. The Bowie intro is long and funny as a much diminished sounding Odd Couple tease lingers on and on. The opening of Bowie itself is tarnished because of the foolishness again. Good jam though. I sense a Manteca tease from Trey that doesn't gain traction with the others about eleven minutes in. HYHU is accompanied with another song being teased by Mike that I can't figure out. Hang on Sloopy? Page seems to join in. Love You has great intros and a plug for J. Willis Pratt's album. Sounds like Mike is teasing Buffalo Bill. Coil is basically the closer tonight. Rough spots from Mike early on, but the usual great Page solo to wrap things up. Good set, now let's see how quiet we can get for Adeline. Lots of shushing for the guys who want to hear Suzy really bad apparently.
Runaway Jim is the only encore tonight. Pretty standard Jim here. Good jam.
Nice show overall. A few rough spots here and there. Lots of repeats from last night.
