The Mockingbird Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Phish fans in 1996 to generate charitable proceeds from the Phish community.
And since we're entirely volunteer – with no office, salaries, or paid staff – administrative costs are less than 2% of revenues! So far, we've distributed over $2 million to support music education for children – hundreds of grants in all 50 states, with more on the way.
Take , for example, Tahoe2 at the post-show street party going down on the stateline; that fun loving brass band jammed next to my truck for 1 hour and collected maybe $150 in tips. All the while, the nitrous gang in the shadows with thier clandestine operation profited maybe $5,000, sucking off the good will and energy that the brass band generated. Crazy, sad, and so wrong!
No shortage of willing participants forking over $5/balloon. Plenty of blood on the community's hand in this regard, actually supporting this undesirable element. Of course, the people of Tahoe lose their minds about all that debris ending up in the lake.
I will have no problem running off the tank man next time i see him/her. ( l.a. forum). I'm not into it. Plus, this nitrous 3.0 is organized street level drug dealing evidently now, and not your 1980's single tank guy, and he became a problem anyway.
