MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 495

Reminder: For the first MJM of each month, only folks who have never won an MJM are allowed to answer on the blog before the hint. If you have never won an MJM, please answer as a comment below. If you have previously won an MJM, but you'd like to submit a guess before the hint, you may do so by PMing me; once the hint has been posted, everyone should answer on the blog. If that's confusing to you, check out the handy decision tree that I threw together for you. If you're not sure if you've won before, check in the MJM Results spreadsheet linked below.

Welcome to the 495th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the first puzzle of March. The winner will receive an MP3 code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of the mystery jam. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe!

Hint: This tune is my absolute favorite second-set opener, and this week's jam is a prime example of why.

Answer: Congrats to @lysergic on their fifth MJM win, closing within a pair of the promised land! This week they used the hint and identified the cool but largely unheralded 7/17/03 "Tweezer" - not often a 20+ min behemoth flies under the radar, but this Bonner-inducing jam certainly has the past two decades. See you Monday for MJM496...

Zands Pete's favorite song to open set 2 plus it's a clip from my favorite year from my favorite era? That's a mix for success right there! :D Great solve, Lysergic!

lysergic Hey, thanks @Zands ! Before the hint I was thinking this was definitely probably some jam in 1998-2003 (lol). After the hint, I was able to get there pretty quick... I don't know Pete, but who doesn't love a Tweezer to kick off their second set?

heh yeah not exactly a controversial or rare call for my favorite second set opener

interestingly / unfortunately I've *never* caught a second set opening Tweezer in 50 shows - seen a couple show-opening Tweezers and even a third set opening Tweezer, along with a few Tweezers batting second in the second set (most recently Shoreline), but never in that prime jamming position

hope to get one soon!

i've never seen tweezer open the second set either, though i did get Tweeprise in that slot 8/12/18 MPP which was a ridiculous amount of fun.
