MYSTERY JAM MONDAY PART 456

Welcome to the 456th edition of Phish.Net's Mystery Jam Monday, the third of March. The winner will receive an MP3 download code courtesy of our friends at LivePhish.com / Nugs.Net. To win, be the first person to identify the song and date of all three mystery clips, which are connected by a theme. Each person gets one guess to start – if no one answers correctly in the first 24 hours, I'll post a hint. After the hint, everyone gets one more guess before Wednesday at 10 AM PT / 1 PM ET. Stay safe!

Answer: Congrats to @Ry_storm on his fourth MJM win, crossing the halfway mark to MJM Emeritus status! This time he quickly identified the first clip and leveraged the jam chart to blitz the other two: 7/18/16 "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," 7/23/03 "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," and 7/24/88 "Sneakin' Sally Through the Alley," three "Sally" jams spanning nearly 30 years and all three eras of Phish. Who doesn't love a good 1.0 / 2.0 / 3.0 MJM triplet? Stay tuned for MJM457 next week...

That was quick!

Ready for a hot take? That Sally jam doesn't do much for me. And I was there!

I hear them straining to stretch out the jam but falling flat for the most part - Trey is probing, looking for where to take things, and Fishman tries to help by pushing the pace, but it never really coalesces outside the roaring peak they hit (incidentally, the section I clipped). They ultimately stumble into the wall, pick up the pieces, and return to the song proper, but I rarely return to this version if ever.

How's that for some jaded shit??

That is pretty jaded lol :)

I absolutely love the way Fish pushes the pace the whole jam! I go more in depth about this one on Episode 4 of my podcast, We Move Through Stormy Weather, if y'all are inclined!

Some weeks they just click for me right away - and the Sally jam chart was very helpful in finding that 80s version!

metawhy nice choices today! I could only recognize the first as 3.0, the second as 2.0 and the last as 1.0...
